Unlike other pests, moths pose you no health risks as they do not transmit diseases. They are seen as pests due to the damage their larvae cause to materials, textiles and stored food products. Clothes Moths and Carpet Moths damage natural fibres such as wool, silk or cotton in carpets, clothes, fabrics and fur. The caterpillars cause the damage by eating the protein found in these natural materials.
To eradicate a moth infestation, vacuum regularly, paying attention to dark corners and beneath furniture. Remove any clothing or textiles that might be infested and make sure all items are clean before returning. Apply Rentokil Moth Killer Powder or spray such as Protector C to the area. Insecto moth traps that work by interrupting the breeding cycle also work well. An Insecto smoke bomb is also effective in killing adult moths.
